HONOLULU (Island News) -- American Idol is officially back in Hawaiʻi. The ABC singing competition is filming this week at Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa in Ko Olina.
Contestants are performing Wednesday and Thursday in front of a live audience, along with judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and host Ryan Seacrest.
Another special guest in town this week? Last season's American Idol winner and Hawaiʻi's own Iam Tongi.
Grammy nominee Jelly Roll and Tori Kelly, who got her start on American Idol, will be the Guest Mentors. They're also at Aulani, taping the episodes that'll air later in the season. The season premiere of American Idol is at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18 on Island News.
