Four thousand holiday meals, complete with turkey, gravy, stuffing, pie and more, will be distributed to Leeward residents through Ko Olina’s 16th Annual Thanksgiving Outreach, Saturday, November 22.
What began modestly with just 1,000 meals in 1999 has grown to be the holiday’s largest outreach program on Oahu. Employees from the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club, Ko Olina Golf Club, Ko Olina Marina and resort residents, will be working hand‐in‐hand with church congregations from Waianae to Waipahu to prepare, distribute and serve meals to less fortunate families along the Leeward coast.
Leeward Community College culinary students will be preparing over 2,700 pounds of turkey, with Ko Olina chefs handling all side dishes and desserts. UPS drivers, many of whom have participated in the voluntary program since its inception, will be delivering the prepared dishes to 14 locations, including:
– The Gathering Place of Hope
– Holy Hill of Zion Thy Dwelling Place
– Waianae Vet Center
– Word of Life
– Ark of Safety
– Paradise Chapel
– City of Joy
– St. Jude Catholic Church
– US Vets of Kalaeloa
– West Loch Elderly Village
– Calvary Chapel West Oahu
– Lighthouse Outreach Christian Center
– Waipahu United Church of Christ
